To use a Pre-defined function in a sql statement

I have a pre-defined function -> MakeAdd(X as string) which does some modification to the address field.
How can i use this function in a Sql statement like "Select Name, MakeAdd(address), PhoneNo from contacts ..... ".
Is it possible . . ?
