Has anybody had any experience with automating the testing of the GUI of a windows forms app? Our customer is envisioning a scenario where they can put together several dozen scenarios and have these automatically be fed into the GUI of our application. Their idea is to load the scenarios into a spreadsheet or a database, with the columns indicating the data elements in the GUI that need to be set for each scenario. The purpose is 2 fold: To make sure the application behaves properly (i.e event logic fired properly, no unhandled exceptions are thrown, etc...) and also to make sure the output from the application is appropriate (in terms of the data that is generated based upon the input).
Has anyone had any experience doing this with either an off-the shelf product or a homemade solution? If so, I'd like your thoughts.
