Best starting projects for someone learning?

Hi VBForums,

I have heard that one of the best things for a new vb.net programmer to make is a webcrawler, because the core mechanics of that can be very useful for tons of things and usually means you will also learn multithreading.

Can you suggest something else that is non trivial such as a webcrawler I should try making?
